Teamsters endorse Todd Kaminsky for State Senate

Kaminsky Gets Major Labor Endorsement as Teamsters Back State Senate Bid

Teamsters Joint Council 16 supports Todd Kaminsky as the best candidate to fight for working men and women in the State Senate

SOUTH SHORE, LONG ISLAND – Today, Teamsters Joint Council 16, who represents 120,000 workers, endorsed Assemblyman and former federal prosecutor Todd Kaminsky in the race to replace Dean Skelos in the State Senate. Teamsters JC 16 members work as freight drivers and in warehouses, factories and airports across Long Island.

“Todd Kaminsky is the leader that working men and women on Long Island deserve to have representing them in the State Senate,” said George L. Miranda, President of Teamsters JC 16. “Todd Kaminsky has a long history of cleaning up corruption so that government can work for New Yorkers. In the Senate, we can count on Todd to fight for the good schools and good jobs that working families need.”

Todd Kaminsky accepted the endorsement saying, “The men and women of Teamsters JC 16 keep our economy running day after day. I’m proud to be endorsed by their hard-working membership and I will continue to fight for them by reducing their tax burden, fully funding their children’s education and ensuring that they have a voice in the State Senate. Just last week, we proved that Albany can once again go to work for all New Yorkers by raising the minimum wage for working families and finally passing Paid Family Leave and we must continue to make middle class taxpayers our top priority.”

“The fight to end government corruption is the fight for middle class families,” Kaminsky continued. “Every time a politician puts themselves before their community, working men and women get robbed. They get robbed of their school funding. They get robbed of their tax dollars. They get robbed of essential services. I am the only candidate in this race that has an actual plan to end government corruption because taxpayers are tired of being the brunt of someone else’s scheme. We must clean up Albany once and for all and I’m thrilled the Teamsters have joined me in this effort.”

Todd Kaminsky has also been endorsed by: U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer and Governor Andrew Cuomo.

The 9th Senate District seat became automatically vacant upon the conviction of Dean Skelos in December on charges of bribery, extortion and conspiracy. A special election to fill the 9th Senate District seat will be held on Tuesday, April 19th, 2016.
