Teamsters Statement on the Passing of Hector Figueroa
George Miranda, President of Teamsters Joint Council 16, had the following statement on the passing of SEIU 32BJ President Hector Figueroa.
“Labor has lost a visionary and inspiring leader. Hector Figueroa saw the cause of labor stretching far beyond the workplace and he fought alongside immigrants, communities of color, and other social movements. His groundbreaking campaigns and new ways of organizing empowered low-wage workers and brought economic security to many working-class families. Today, our thoughts, sympathy, and solidarity are with Hector Figueroa’s family and the members of SEIU 32BJ.”
