Hunts Point Market Teamsters win contract

Tentative Agreement Reached for 1,100 Teamsters at Hunts Point Market

On the eve of a possible strike, Teamsters Local 202 reached a tentative agreement with the Hunts Point Produce Market that covers 1,100 warehouse workers, drivers, and other market employees.

Union members voted to authorize a strike three days earlier, and prepared to walk out as the contract expiration approached on Tuesday night. The solidarity paid off, with the tentative contract including a raise that is substantially higher than was originally offered.

Members will vote on the tentative agreement later this week.
