United Airlines Teamsters Picket in Chicago
United Airlines Teamsters from New York’s Local 210 traveled to Chicago to join brother and sister Teamsters and the Association of Flight Attendants to protest the United Airlines shareholders meeting.
Teamsters have been fighting for years for a fair contract at United. The rally was the latest in a string of protests by Teamster mechanics at airports across the country, including San Francisco, Los Angeles (LAX), Chicago O’Hare, Newark, LaGuardia, Washington Dulles, Cleveland, Boston Logan, Houston and Orlando.
In February, the mechanics voted down United’s contract proposal by 93 percent, and also voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike. Over 9,000 mechanics at United are represented by the Teamsters Union, which is petitioning the National Mediation Board for a strike release.
